Happy Holidays!

Yes we are having a December meeting, it will be on the 18th at 6:30 pm in the loft at the Flicks.  This meeting will give you the chance to learn about and even GIVE a PITCH!  That’s write, get the feeling of what it’s like standing in front of a panel of Agents and Producers, and give your movie or t.v. show, whatever you have, but give your pitch to the experts!  We’ll teach you how to pitch, and give you the opportunity to try it.  It’s fun!  If you’re going to write, you have to be able to PITCH!

Pamela Thompson, Hollywood Career Coach, will be on hand to also instruct you on ways of just ‘pitching yourself’.  How do you market YOU?  She’ll show you the best techniques.

November Events

November 9th The Film Industry Advisory Committee meets and will officially launch the newest group in town, Idaho Media Professionals.  If you’re not a part of this, you need to check it out!

Our Monthly meetings are THE 3RD TUESDAY each month, 6:30pm in the Loft at the Flicks theater downtown, Boise.  Please join us!

Monthly meetings

February we discussed ‘story’, the basics of writing a screenplay, and how to keep it visual!  March we will be welcoming guests Peg Owens and Kat Haase from the Idaho Film Bureau.  Come and listen to them talk about the recent legislation and how it will affect film making in Idaho, as well as what the future looks like from their perspective.  Keep working on those screenplays, and in April we’ll be discussing Format, that which seperates the amateurs from the pros when it comes to that screenplay.  As always, meet us the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 6:30 pm in the loft of the Flicks theater downtown Boise.  See you there!

January Meeting

The January meeting will take place at 6:30pm on Tuesday, the 9th, but in an alternate location – the conference room at CTA Architects, 1185 Grove street in Boise, directly behind the Owyhee Plaza Hotel.  Sherry will be on vacation that week, so Lesson 1 won’t be due until the February meeting.  We will be watching a DVD on screenwriting produced by the Screenwriting Expo / Creative Screenwriting magazine.  Contact Vice President Louise Luster for more specific information on this.

December Guest Speaker

Our December guest speaker (Dec 12th) will be Bob Sand. In his career some of the many credits to his name are his screenwriting for Touch and Go (feature film with Michael Keaton); George and Leo (Judd Hirsh, Bob Newhart tv series); Love and Money (tv series); Full House (tv series); Laverne and Shirley (tv series); Madames Place (tv series); The Newlywed Game; Mr. griffin and Me (Burgess Merideth Prudencial one hour special); Friends (tv series) ,…just to name a few! Come to the Flick’s loft at 6:30 and meet Mr. Sand.

Screenwriting Expo in L.A.

5 days in L.A. was about all I could take, but the classes, the friends, the networking and the information were well worth it. We’ll talk all about it at the next meeting! Don’t miss it!

Monthly Meeting – Join Us!

The Idaho Screenwriters will meet from 6:30-8pm the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Loft room at the Flick’s theater downtown Boise.  The Flick’s is located at the end of 6th street  on 646 Fulton. If you haven’t been there before, it’s a great little theater with a restaurant and everything.  Come there and eat a quick bite before the meeting – bring your comments, ideas, projects and questions.

New screenwriting group

I’ve been writing screenplays for over 7 years, I’ve taught screenwriting online and facilitated a screenwriting group in south central Idaho for the past 6 years.  But now I’m back home in Boise and we’re starting a screenwriting group here.  We’re planning on meeting the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month, and enjoying lots of conversations with other screenwriters from around the area here on our blog site.  So please join us and post any questions or ideas here and I will get back to you.
